Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says they have Krzysztof Dowhan to thank for bringing Polish goalkeepers Lukasz Fabianski and Wojciech Szczesny to the club.

Dowhan has worked at Legia Warsaw for many years and also brought through Fiorentina and former Celtic No1 Artur Boruc.

Wenger insists he has never tried to recruit the Polish goalkeeping coach but he has the utmost respect for him.

"No [we didn't try to sign Dowhan], we watched Fabianski," the Frenchman told arsenal.com.

"I don?t know who brought us Wojciech but when he arrived he was tall and young so he did not always master everything well.

"But this guy [Dowhan] at Legia has produced some fantastic goalkeepers. In Poland, they produce some fantastic goalkeepers."
