India consider longer deal for national coach Colaco

World Cup

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has hinted at granting an extension to caretaker national team coach Armando Colaco, reports the AFC official website.

The 58 year old took over the reins of the Bhangra Boys on a short-term contract after the exit of Englishman Bob Houghton in May.

"We believe Colaco has done a good job... the AIFF is considering giving him a longer contract," AIFF General Secretary Kushal Das was quoted as saying by the Indian media.

Under Colaco, India failed to clear the first round of the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying after suffering a 5-2 aggregate defeat to the UAE but the team then earned a stunning 2-1 win over Qatar in a friendly international.
