? The biggest story in the Championship was the ending of Nottingham Forest's 36-match unbeaten run at the City Ground when they were defeated 1-0 by Hull City. Forest were lucky to escape with a point at Middlesbrough in midweek but were undone today by Matty Fryatt's winner. Billy Davies threw on forwards to try to get the equaliser but Hull held firm and reduced Forest to long-range efforts. The Forest goalkeeper, Lee Camp, was sent up front for a corner in the dying seconds but to no avail.
? Swansea, so impressive against Leeds last weekend, were defeated 1-0 by Scunthorpe at Glanford Park with Joe Garner, a forward on loan from Nottingham Forest, scoring his fourth goal in six games for the Iron. The victory put United only a point behind Crystal Palace in 21st place with a game in hand and Swansea remained in second before this evening's Cardiff match, eight points behind QPR who waited and waited for Ishmael Miller's late goal to give them a 1-0 win over Leicester.
? Leeds's strengths and weaknesses were both on show at Elland Road where they defeated Doncaster Rovers 5-2. Max Gradel and Jonny Howson scored two apiece, to take Leeds's home league tally to 40, a Championship high. The two conceded, however, took opposition goals to 31, also a Championship high. Burnley's 1-0 win over Palace kept them four points behind Leeds in sixth, but the Clarets have two games in hand.
? There were raised eyebrows when Brian McDermott signed Ian Harte for Reading last August. The one-paced veteran defender had enjoyed a remarkable season at Carlisle but many thought his best days were a distant memory. He scored two of those trademark curled free-kicks today in the Royals' 5-2 victory over Middlesbrough. Reading remain in 10th but a play-off place is not out of the question.
? Liam Bridcutt scored a late winner for Brighton who looked to have thrown away three points when Carlisle scored an injury-time equaliser at the Withdean. The 4-3 victory keeps them four points in front of Bournemouth who hammered Oldham 3-0.
? The performance of the day came at Hillsborough where Plymouth Argyle threw off the travails of an awful fortnight to beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-4. Joe Mason scored twice for the Pilgrims who remain bottom after the 10-point penalty imposed for going into administration, six points from safety. Dagenham & Redbridge leapfrogged Bristol Rovers with a 2-0 away win while Paul Hart's first game as Swindon's Red Adair ended in a 0-0 draw with Walsall.
? Bottom club Stockport got a winner four minutes into added time thanks to Greg Tansey to beat Oxford United 2-1 at Edgeley Park. Barnet remain above them on goal difference and Burton's 4-1 defeat at Crewe leaves them with a one-point cushion above the drop zone, though they do have six games in hand over the Hatters.
? Chesterfield's 3-0 victory at Cheltenham extended their lead at the top of League Two to 11 points after Wycombe were held 2-2 by Aldershot. Bury have moved into second place, Ryan Lowe scoring for the ninth match in succession in a 3-0 win at Hereford.
