Petrov confident McLeish is right man for Villa

Aston Villa

Aston Villa skipper Stiliyan Petrov is of the belief that the club has done the right thing in appointing Alex McLeish as manager.

The Scottish tactician created headlines when he quit Second City rivals Birmingham to take the job at Villa Park but Petrov is happy with decision but has warned fans to give him time to settle into his new role.

"He needs to be given time because everybody deserves time," the Bulgarian midfielder told Sky Sports News.

"He will prove everybody wrong and that he is the right man for this job.

"He has the will to win every single game and he is a man who if he goes down, he will bounce back straight away.

"He will make the team that way and we need that after the disappointing season last year.

"I think he is the right man and if he is given time he will show that and prove everybody wrong."
