Manchester United travel to Goodison Park to take on Everton, a side that will not be at full strength for the EPL clash.
Everton put all their eggs in a Carling Cup match with Chelsea, and now one is broken and another has been sent off. That should make a difficult fixture all the more arduous as the Red Devils come to town.
United have their own demons to thwart in what should be a rebound game for Sir Alex Ferguson's crew. The Manchester City thrashing will still be fresh in their minds as they try to reassert themselves as Premiership powers.
Where: Goodison Park, England
When: Saturday, October 29th, 7:00 a.m. ET
Watch: ESPN Deportes and ESPN3
Player To Watch For Manchester United: Wayne Rooney
The Everton faithful will be chiding Rooney at every turn. The renowned striker is not having a great few weeks. After his father was arrested for gambling irregularities, Rooney himself was sent off in an international clash making him a villain throughout the country.
Everton is the perfect chance for Rooney to rebound and show the form that we all marveled at earlier in the season.
Player To Watch For Everton: Apostolos Vellios
Everton has been hit hard with injuries and suspensions this week. They will be without winger Royston Drenths, skipper Phil Neville and Tim Cahill. That leaves Apostolos Vellios as a possible X-factor in attack.
Key Matchup
The back line of Manchester United needs to show up. Keeper David de Gea has been questioned by every last United fan willing to voice their opinion. In a match that United should control, Fergie's side can only hurt themselves.
What They’re Saying
The Telegraph reports on the incessant chiding that Rooney gets from Everton fans who label him a traitor.
In recent seasons, the 26 year-old, a £30 million buy from Everton in August 2004, has attempted to ease tensions between himself and the team he supported as a boy by publicly ending a feud with manager David Moyes and talking regularly of his ongoing passion for the club.
But despite Rooney’s efforts at bridge-building, Ferguson admits that United expect the England forward to bear the brunt of terrace hostility once again this lunchtime.
Prediction: Manchester United 3, Everton 1
United have issues on defense and I see no reason that even a depleted Everton can't get over on one goal. It will be all United after that.
